Farmers Market

This morning we checked out the Des Monies Farmers Market. It was the busiest Farmers Market I have ever seen. According to www.dsmpartnership.com, it averages 25,000 visitors each weekend, and I believe it.

We managed to get through it with all 4 kids, and while we were only able to see a small portion of it, we all enjoyed it. The kids hit melt down mode after about an our an a half. We purchased some delicious local jam, among other things. My kids asked for PB&J’s for lunch just to have some. It was so sweet and flavorful.

I stopped and tried a few of their wines. As a matter of fact I just had a glass of one I purchased. Being a fan of sweet wines, it was awesome to see that they had several choices for me, in addition to their dry ones. I think no matter what your preference you will be able to find something you like. While I tried the wines the kids sampled some root beer that we just had to buy.

We also tried some tasty goat cheese. This was an eye opening booth for us to go to. We didn’t realize all the different styles of cheeses you could make with goat milk. They also had goat milk soaps in many booths too. Goats are something we have been hearing a lot about and may be interested in venturing into once we get settled.

With the jam and cheese we needed to get some fresh bread to eat it with, and we were not disappointed. There is nothing like freshly made bread, in my opinion. There were so many booths that had breads of all kinds that you could smell it throughout the streets.

On top of the food they had so many talented artists, from metal work, to woodwork, to crocheting. We have already made plans to go back next weekend if at all possible. We move into the rental in 6 days, so it will be a busy weekend for us.
