Day 3 – We met the presidents!! And so much more.

The day has finally come! We met the presidents. The kids loved it but kept asking to get closer. Some of the trails were under construction so it was difficult to get a close up picture of them.

I have to say that as beautiful as this sight was, the construction made it difficult to get the full experience. We did see a monument with a list of some people who helped construct it . We saw some familiar last names. We will have to ask James’s uncle more about these names. The kids were very curious if they were related to anyone on this list.

I didn’t see any Merithews or Stonebridges but maybe my dad will recognize some of the names on the list.

We are so glad we made the stop but also wished it was not under construction. We took several pictures and then hit the road for lunch. We stopped at a small shop that made burgers. The kids enjoyed them but soon we were shooing away flies. Just as we finished our meal, an employee there started using a fly swatter on the tables and didn’t wash the tables after. Needless to say, we will not be returning there again.

After lunch we went to Bear Country, which is a drive through zoo featuring, among many other animals, BEARS!! All the kids enjoyed this but Joey loved it. He is such an animal lover. He kept saying “Awe, look how cute”. All of the kids said this was their favorite thing so far. Sorry for the picture overload but I can’t help it. By the way Joey said he wants 4 baby cubs to bring home.

This was such a memorable experience, and I have many more pictures to remember all of these animals with. We made one more stop at the Dinosaur Park. We got to see several sculptures along the way and pose with them. We were all exhausted after all that so off to the hotel to relax and get some rest before we head out for another day of fun.
