We are a family of 6 (yes, 6!), and we are moving from a large southeast city to the Midwest. Our somewhat large family just packed up all our stuff and started the adventure of a lifetime.
I am the Mom of the family and have been a “City Girl” my whole life. This may be hard to believe but I was 16 years old when I saw a cow in person for the first time! I have had many jobs over the course of my adult life. I started off as a teacher, than went to a supervisor at a retail store, a 911 dispatcher, and then a customer account specialist. After all of that, we are now working towards simplify our lifestyle to a simpler life.
Dad, my husband, has worked for the same company for 19 years. He recently got a promotion which has us relocating to the Midwest, and we are looking forward to this new adventure and all it brings. I have no doubt he will do great things in his new position. He dreams of having chickens one day despite my irrational fear of them.
Jimi, our oldest son. He is 11 years old and will be starting middle school in the fall. He is nervous about the change but is embracing it and is looking forward to all the outdoor activities he can do.
Megan, our only girl. She is 9 years old and will be entering 5th grade in the fall. She is a social butterfly, so leaving her friends behind was pretty tough on her.
Benny, our middle boy. He is 6 years old and will be entering into the 2nd grade in the fall. He has never met a stranger and has looked at this as a way to meet new friends.
Joey, my baby boy. He is 4 years old and will be entering preschool in the fall. We lovingly refer to him as the reason he is the last. He is the one that questions everything and keeps us on our toes.
I decided to create this blog with my family’s full support for multiple reasons. First, we wanted a way for those that have supported us throughout the years to stay up to date with our new adventure. Second, we wanted a way for our kids to look back at the adventure we have had and remember it. Third, we wanted to share with other people that would like to go from city life to homestead life. We will be renting a house our first year but plan on buying land and building on it and going from the
